This 700' high sweep of slabs in Glen Etive (Trilleachan) off Glencoe, Scotland, is one of the most deceptive of climbing areas. Set at a seemingly easy angle, first visits give a nasty shock - there are very few positive holds and often there is only just enough friction to keep you in place. All climbs here are graded Very Severe to Extreme for good reason. However Etive provides a slab-climber's paradise. Here, Richard Jurin leads pitch 1.
